25-26 Sports Planning
“The season is not over. We are not on vacation. The Valencia CF coach is thinking about preparing for the match against Betis. Discretion is essential in work. There are always conversations that affect the future, but I keep them private because discretion is crucial to carry out the emerging plan.”
Outages
“The only absence is S.C. Tenés, who was operated on for the discomfort he had.”
Match
“We face it with enthusiasm and responsibility. The squad is not on vacation. In a LALIGA match, there are always things at stake. One always needs to evaluate aspects of the game, individual performances to ensure that the decisions are always the best for Valencia CF.”
Real Betis
“They are a very complete team. The sixth-best team in Spanish football. They have achieved this while being involved in European competition and reaching the final. The coach’s trajectory speaks for itself, with a squad of standout players.”
Meeting against Athletic Club
“If I didn’t look satisfied, it’s because I wasn’t. When the result is not desired, one cannot be satisfied. In the last games, we have faced opponents where it has been difficult to impose the team’s offensive play. We have analyzed the game, seen what we did well, what we should have done better, and we want to implement those answers and find a way to end the season on a high note.”
Keeping a core group of players for the 25-26 season
“What I want is for Valencia CF to continue growing, and that should be a must. Doing things to find the most competitive squad we can and our goal will always be to be demanding in that process to improve things.”
Improving the squad for the 25-26 season
“That is the goal we must have, and the Club is working on it. It is a task that I know the Club is working on. From there, the responsibility and excitement of always making Valencia CF better is how I see it. Valencia CF, according to the budget we have, will make the best possible squad. The Club has done work that allows me to focus on the sports side. Conversations always arise from that private sphere that affect the Club’s future. I am not the one who sets the budget. Once it is known, Valencia CF has the obligation to optimize with a specific budget, seeking the best options to make the squad as competitive as possible. Resources are not always associated with greater potential or not. There is creativity, possibilities, market.”
Transfer Market
“Not everything that is not perfect is due to resignation. If we understand that there are ideal circumstances, I and 100% of elite coaches want to have the squad on the first day of preseason to work. But there is not a single football club where that happens. That is ideal, but not real. The market game starts on a date and ends on another and is fluctuating.”
Goal for 25-26
“The responsibility is to make the best squad with the resources we have. That is an honest answer.”
Squad
“In this second half, as the team has improved results, it helps to have a path. When you achieve performance, you have to see why, and that gives you a direction or a plan. The team has shown that with certain positions, certain elements per position… the team has achieved good results. One has to balance what has been done well and what we have lacked.”
