The City Council has today promoted the renewal and improvement of public lighting in La Malva-rosa and El Cabanyal, in the Poblats Marítims district, and in Torrefiel, in Rascanya, by awarding the contract for the installation of 534 new lights with LED technology and the supply of said lighting service.
The intervention, which will be carried out in three months, with a total budget of almost one million euros (€950,470.60), envisages the replacement of old road poles and obsolete lanterns in the streets and squares of these neighborhoods, with new streetlights and facade arms. It also includes the installation of controllers for remote lighting management to achieve «high luminous performance and lower energy consumption».
The Board of Government has agreed to award this contract to two companies in three lots. The company ImesAPI S.A will be responsible, with a budget of €345,866.42, for the renewal and improvement of public lighting in part of La Malva-rosa; while the Sociedad Ibérica de Construcciones Eléctricas S.A will intervene, with €306,169.78 in other locations of this neighborhood, and with €298,434.40 in Torrefiel and El Cabanyal.
Specifically, in La Malva-rosa, the lighting of the plazas Cronista Francesc Momblanch and Llibertador Simón Bolívar, and the streets Gran Canària, Beat Juan Grande, Doctor Álvaro López, Enginyer Fausto Elío, Mendizábal, Enginyer Manuel Maese, Font d’en Carròs, Vicent la Roda, Sant Rafael, Sant Joan de Déu, and Riu Tajo will be renewed.
The changes in public lighting in Torrefiel will be carried out on the avenue de la Constitució, from the bifurcation with the street Comte de Lumiares to the intersection with the avenue Germans Machado and adjacent streets. And in El Cabanyal-Canyamelar, the City Council will improve the lighting of the streets Marí Blas de Lezo and Lluís Peixó.
The agreement of the Board of Government states that the objective of this municipal action is to «reduce the consumption of electrical energy of the public installation», and for this purpose, the LED luminaires will be programmed according to the following lighting curve: until 22:00 hours with 100% of the nominal power; from 22:00 to 00:00 hours with 80%, and from 00:00 hours with 50%.
