Valencia CF captain José Luis Gayà was doubly happy after the victory against Getafe CF. Firstly, for earning three points that certify the enormous work done by the team to change the situation from the first half of the season and bring the team closer to European positions, and secondly for entering the Top 10 of players who have played the most official matches in the history of the Club.

Round victory
We wanted to play a complete game from start to finish. The truth is that in the second half, well, due to the result and a bit of the game, we lacked a bit of continuity, but the team made a huge effort in the first half, we were a bit tired in the second, but the team defended well, was strong in all challenges, in second plays. The first half was very complete from the team and that’s the line we need to follow in the upcoming matches.
The team’s great momentum
That’s the beauty of football. Everyone thought the team would suffer a lot, and it was a reality then. What we have achieved requires a lot of work because after suffering for so long, even being 7 points from relegation, to come out of it as we have done, shows that this team has a lot of value, has a lot of character, and in the end, it has been the opposite of what people thought and said. We have stayed strong and united in difficult times, and that has allowed us to now enjoy these moments and the team continues to grow.
New objectives
The feeling is the same as in these last few matches. On the day of Las Palmas, we practically secured our permanence, so we need to keep growing, keep looking forward, because this shirt, this badge, even though we have achieved what we have, which has been significant, demands that we keep competing because in the end, we are Valencia CF and this shirt demands winning, going to win every game, and with this mentality and these ambitions, we have to go for the next ones.
In the Top 10 of players with the most official matches for Valencia CF
Yes, a very special and beautiful moment for me, in the end, well, I know Carlos Arroyo, I had him in VCF Mestalla and he is also a spectacular person, so I am very happy that he is there with me, participating in this. This is for everyone, and in the end, well, I am climbing up thanks to everyone, to my teammates, and it has been very beautiful.
I focus on enjoying every game, on maintaining that consistency that I hadn’t had for a while, and now I am happy, I am content, and I believe I have to continue in this line.
