Rejects answering Pérez Llorca because Sonia Castedo already did it «so accurately» and «they are both on the same level»
Former President of the Generalitat Valenciana, Francisco Camps, has guaranteed his «absolute support» to the head of Consell and current president of the PPCV, Carlos Mazón, and in fact, he has boasted that he is «one of the party leaders who has defended him the most during all this time». «He will have my absolute support, one hundred percent,» he promised.
He expressed this in statements to the media after participating in an event this Wednesday in Valencia, where he announced that he is taking on «the challenge» of returning as the president of the PPCV and proclaimed: «I want to be the president of the Popular Party of the Valencian Community again, I want to lead the Popular Party of the Valencian Community again.»
At the end, when asked by journalists if he «would have done better» than Mazón at the helm of the Generalitat, he insisted that he wants to talk «about the PP project in the Valencian Community». That said, he pointed out that both the ‘president’ himself and some of the consellers are his «party colleagues», with whom he shared moments in the regional administration.
«They were there before me with–former President Eduardo–Zaplana since 1995, many of them have been general directors and my colleagues for a long time, they are my political generation,» he emphasized.
He then addressed all of them, including Mazón himself: «I want to lead the Popular Party with you. Obviously, because you are my colleagues. You were deputies with me, you were senators with me, you were consellers, general directors… so many things that we managed to make this Community what we all achieved together.»
ASSERTS HIS «LEGITIMATE RIGHT»
He made a call to all his party colleagues «so that they know» that his leadership is «a loyalty leadership to them as well». «And I will demonstrate it as I have demonstrated over all these years, always defending the work of mayors, councilwomen, councilors, deputies, consellers, in short, all those who have political positions and responsibilities within the definition of the PPCV,» he asserted.
In his opinion, at this moment «there is an objective reality» and that is «we are governing in coalition». In contrast, he assured that he intends to govern «by an absolute majority». «That is what I am going to claim and I believe I have the legitimate right to claim that my party wins by an absolute majority,» he stated.
When asked if he could also consider aspiring to preside over the Generalitat, as he did between 2003 and 2011, he stated that at this moment «first and foremost» his goal is the PPCV. «Then other times will come,» he hinted. However, he emphasized that his intention «today» is to «revitalize the party.» «I am ready to lead the PP again and make people believe in the party and work every day from the PP headquarters,» he added.
REFUSES TO ANSWER PÉREZ LLORCA AND COMPARES HIM TO CASTEDO
On the other hand, when asked about the statements of the general secretary of the PPCV, Juanfran Pérez Llorca, who a few days ago stated that «it is not the time» to hold events like the one organized by Camps in Valencia, the former President of the Generalitat assured that he already responded to him «so accurately» by the former mayor of Alicante, Sonia Castedo. «General secretary… Sonia Castedo… they are both on the same level,» he hinted.
In any case, he celebrated that the project he is promoting now already has a «very organized team» and with «already a presence throughout the Comunitat» now that «the campaign is beginning.» «We already have the team in motion, it will be presented in one or two weeks, with surnames, with ideas, but the project has been in motion for a long time,» he specified.
THE GOVERNMENT «ABANDONED US» WITH THE DANA
On the other hand, when asked about how he evaluates the management of the dana by Carlos Mazón, he insisted on holding the Government of Spain responsible for «the tragedy of the Valencians» due to its «absolute absence.» «A Government led by Pedro Sánchez that abandoned us to our fate, the biggest scandal in the history of Spain in recent years for sure,» he maintained.
For this reason, he considered it important to be aware that the PPCV «must win by an absolute majority for the PP of Spain to also do so.» «And the Valencian Community has all the historical credentials to give the PP an absolute majority, the PP came out of here to win by an absolute majority in 2011,» he emphasized. Ultimately, in his opinion, the PPCV «has not only demonstrated to be at the service of the Valencians, but also of the PP of all of Spain.» «And that’s why I want a strong PP,» he added.
Additionally, Camps addressed his party colleagues «from the rest of Spain» to tell them: «I am also with them, I want to join the project of the PP of–Alberto Núñez–Feijóo, if possible and if the members believe it, as the president of this party here in the Community.»
«NOTHING TO DO» WITH SÁNCHEZ’S CAMPAIGN
On another note, when asked if the strategy of touring the Valencian Community to convince the members is «almost the same as Pedro Sánchez’s with the Peugeot,» Francisco Camps emphasized that it has «nothing to do» because he toured the territory «a long time ago, being the ‘president’ of the Generalitat, being the conseller of Culture and Education» and also in «many of the political functions» he has carried out throughout his life. «The love I have for this land is a love that knows no bounds and that’s why I am setting out again,» he stated.
