Escalante Children’s and Youth Theater ends its 39th season with a trip to the heart of the Fira de Titelles de Lleida. The final proposal of this season will be ‘Feriantes’, a proposal of object theater and documentary produced by El Patio Teatro and Centro Dramático Nacional that can be discovered on the stage of Teatre Principal de València from May 29 to 31.
«This work is a tribute to the fair, to the booths, to the ‘cacharritos’, to all those people who have dedicated their time and their lives selling illusion and fun in all the towns and cities of Spain,» they say from the company.
‘Feriantes’ is also a journey through the history of our country; an attempt to bring the fair to the stage; «a declaration of love to its past and present of all those people who have made this world possible»; an invitation to look at the fair from another perspective thanks to testimonies from its protagonists. It is the result of a research by the company through Dramawalker Logroño.
‘Feriantes’ is a creation and co-production of El Patio Teatro, a company from La Rioja that has not been missing in Escalante’s scenic proposal in recent seasons. On this occasion, the text and direction are by Izaskun Fernández and Julián Sáenz-López based on interviews with workers from the fair world, with Sáenz-López himself on stage alongside Alejandro López and Diego Solloa.
These stories, in the form of object theater and oral narration, have won the FETEN 2025 Award for Best Documentary Theater Show and the Premi de la Fira de Titelles de Lleida 2024 for Best Set Design.
It will be performed this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, each day at 7:00 p.m., on the stage of Teatre Principal after its rescheduling due to the storm. Tickets can be purchased on the Escalante website and at the box office before each performance.
