With music as the key and symbol of the LGTBIQ+ community’s advocacy, the Delegated Council for Equality of the City Council presented on Thursday the campaign for Pride Day, which in 2025 has been framed within the València Music City strategy. The municipal initiative carries the motto ‘València sounds like Pride: the key is respect’ and will be disseminated from June 16 to July 7 on the city’s street furniture, EMT buses, as well as in press and social networks.
Councilor Rocío Gil presented the municipal campaign alongside the newly appointed commissioner of València Music City, Juan Pablo Valero. Both have highlighted «the historical value of music as a great ally of the LGTBIQ+ community in advocating for rights and celebrating diversity.» The councilor pointed out that «we are a city of roots and tradition where music has always accompanied us to express, advocate, celebrate, and be ourselves.»
«There are many melodies that accompany us, move us, and, above all, make us proud of who we are,» added Rocío Gil, who emphatically stated that in the city of València «there is no room for discrimination and hate.» Juan Pablo Valero emphasized that «this year we want to appeal to citizens in the fight against discrimination, remembering that, just like in musical scores, the key that defines Pride in València is respect.» Valero, who expressed his satisfaction with the slogan of the municipal initiative «as a musician and member of the community,» highlighted that music «is not an accessory or leisure element» but fosters «social cohesion» and contributes significantly to advocating for rights.
Various municipal landmarks such as the Porta de la Mar, the monumental fountain in L’Ajuntament square, and the facade of the Casa Consistorial will have special lighting during the Pride Day celebration weekend. The municipal campaign will also be disseminated on 75 elements of street furniture distributed throughout the city and on the digital screens in L’Ajuntament square.
The Municipal Transport Company (EMT) will collaborate by fully vinyl wrapping one bus and the side advertising supports with the graphic image of the campaign ‘València sounds like Pride: the key is respect’, on four other vehicles that will travel on the routes of lines 4, 14, 26, and 98. The local press and social networks will echo the municipal Pride initiative in ads, radio spots, and digital banners. The creativity of the campaign has been led by Estimado Agency. Their creative director highlighted the role of «the key as a symbol of harmony and agreement. The different characters and colors of the campaign represent the variety of profiles in the LGTBIQ+ community.»
