Falla commissions in the city of València can now submit their entries for the XXVII Awards for Innovative and Experimental Fallas, a call that is endowed with 6,400 euros and in which both large and children’s falla monuments can participate.
The purpose of this initiative, now in its 17th edition, is, as stated in the bases approved by the City Council, to «open new paths to creativity in the Fallas festival». To achieve this, Falla monuments that promote «new proposals that, through their different elements, construction techniques, expressive registers, treatment of themes and materials, have an innovative and experimental concept» will be rewarded. Additionally, the «use of non-polluting or harmful materials to the environment» will be considered.
The top 10 outstanding fallas in each category, large and children’s, will receive accreditation banners for their innovative work. Furthermore, the top three in each category will also be recognized with cash prizes: 2,000 euros for the first prize in the large fallas category; 1,400 for the second prize; and 900 for the third. As for children’s fallas, the first prize will receive 1,000 euros; the second, 700 euros; and the third, 400.
To be eligible for the grant, interested Falla commissions must be registered in the Municipal Registry of Citizen Entities of the València City Council by the end of the deadline for submitting the participation request. The Festivals and Traditions Service will verify compliance with this requirement ex officio. Additionally, commissions must be integrated, as non-profit entities, in the Junta Central Fallera, which will be certified by a responsible declaration.
The deadline for submitting applications is twenty calendar days from the day following the publication in the Official Gazette of the Province of Valencia, BOP. This means that the deadline, which started today on Wednesday, February 26, will remain open until March 17.
