The gala criticizes the «institutional void» with messages vindicating the work of professionals and calling for the resignation of Mazón.
Óscar Lasarte and Neus Agulló, in cinema, and Xavo Giménez and Laura Useleti, in theater, are some of the winners in the awards given by the Valencian Professional Actors and Actresses Union (AAPV), whose gala took place on Monday night at the Teatro Principal de València.
The ceremony has been «more emotional and vindicative than in previous years,» highlights the organization. The first criticism that hovered over the gala, they emphasize, was the refusal of the regional television À Punt to broadcast the event, as had been customary in the last seven years.
This circumstance and «the difficult situation facing the sector» were reflected in the event with messages vindicating the work of performing arts professionals, calling for the resignation of the President of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, due to his management of the dana, as well as highlighting the importance of culture in «times of constant tension and uncertainty,» they explain.
In her speech, the president of the collective, María Almudéver, stated that there are «kind words, good intentions, but no action» from the main Valencian institutions.
«The sector has been paralyzed for over a year, and the people leading a public institution should ensure the present and future of culture, both for its professionals and for the well-being of the entire Valencian society,» denouncing the inept management of the director general of the Valencian Institute of Culture or the invisibility of the regional secretary of Culture and the Culture minister,» she lamented.
