The match played by Levante UD last Friday against Córdoba CF was not just another one for José Morales. The Commander wrote another prominent page in his history and that of the club by becoming the player with the most matches played in the Levante entity with 347 appearances, surpassing Agustín Dolz who held this record with 346.
This milestone adds to a season in which the ’11’ granota is surpassing the most important records in the history of the club. Last January, Morales became the top scorer of Levante UD in La Liga and Segunda División, and on November 19 of last year, he set the record for the player with the most matches played in both categories for the club. Additionally, he leads the goal-scoring chart of Levante UD in La Liga with 63 goals, a title he achieved in his previous spell with the club.
During the current season, Morales has become one of the players with the most matches played with 36 appearances, 35 in La Liga and one in the Copa del Rey, and he is the top scorer of the team with 10 goals scored, nine in the league and one in the Copa.
When the forward joined the club in 2011, he could not have imagined the remarkable future that awaited him with Levante UD. He initially joined the club to strengthen Atlético Levante UD, a team with which he competed in promotion playoffs to Segunda B and Segunda División. After a loan spell at SD Eibar, where he achieved promotion to the top flight, he returned to Orriols to establish himself as one of the key players in the squad. Following his time as a granota, the player represented Villarreal CF for two seasons, making his debut in European competitions in the UEFA Conference League and UEFA Europa League. Last summer, he returned to his home to continue enhancing his legacy in the history of Levante UD and strive together for a common goal.
