Después de la catastrófica Dana que asoló nuestra tierra, Valencia Basket trató de poner sus recursos al servicio de la gente necesitada, alojando en L’Alqueria directamente primero a los afectados que no podían volver a sus casas y poniendo la instalación después a disposición de las unidades militares externas que se trasladaban a la ciudad, que la convirtieron en su campamento base.
En esas circunstancias, para que los niños y niñas de L’Alqueria que lo quisieran pudieran seguir disfrutando del baloncesto, fue clave el papel de varios centros y colegios valencianos que compartieron sus instalaciones para hacerlo posible.
Como también clave fue el papel del programa Alcem-es Esport, que gracias a la aportación de su patrimonio personal del Mecenas del Club, Juan Roig, dio 4 millones de euros en ayudas con el objetivo claro de impulsar y recuperar el ecosistema deportivo valenciano. Dentro de la iniciativa, junto con la Fundación Trinidad Alfonso, Valencia Basket asumió la función de hacer llegar esas ayudas a los clubes de baloncesto damnificados, con la entrega de material deportivo y ayudas a los desplazamientos y uso de instalaciones.
Hoy, en el partido del equipo femenino, Valencia Basket ha querido invitar tanto a clubes que formaron parte del programa Alcem-es Esport como a centros que colaboraron con L’Alqueria cuando no se podía hacer uso de ella.
En total cerca de 2.000 personas que han disfrutado de la victoria del equipo de Rubén Burgos y han sido homenajeadas en el descanso a través de una pequeña representación de cada una de las entidades que ha saltado a la pista en el descanso recibiendo un homenaje para el recuerdo. Una bonita imagen como colofón de una jornada que ha vuelto a unir solidaridad y deporte después de una tragedia que no debe ser olvidada.
After the catastrophic Dana that devastated our land, Valencia Basket tried to put its resources at the service of those in need, accommodating directly in L’Alqueria first the affected people who could not return to their homes and then making the facility available to external military units that were moving to the city, turning it into their base camp.
In those circumstances, it was crucial for the boys and girls of L’Alqueria who wanted to continue enjoying basketball, the role of various Valencian centers and schools that shared their facilities to make it possible.
Also crucial was the role of the Alcem-es Esport program, which, thanks to the contribution of its personal heritage from the Club’s Patron, Juan Roig, provided 4 million euros in aid with the clear objective of promoting and recovering the Valencian sports ecosystem. As part of the initiative, alongside the Trinidad Alfonso Foundation, Valencia Basket assumed the role of delivering these aids to the affected basketball clubs, with the delivery of sports equipment and assistance for travel and use of facilities. 14 clubs were able to benefit from these advantages.
Today, in the women’s team’s match, Valencia Basket wanted to invite both clubs that were part of the Alcem-es Esport program and centers that collaborated with L’Alqueria when it could not be used.
In total, close to 2,000 people who enjoyed the victory of Rubén Burgos’ team were honored at halftime through a small representation of each of the entities that took to the court at halftime receiving a tribute to remember. A beautiful image as the culmination of a day that has once again brought together solidarity and sports after a tragedy that must not be forgotten.
