The health center in the district of Benimàmet will double its size thanks to an investment of 3.5 million euros from the Ministry of Health, which has just opened public tenders for the expansion and renovation of the facilities. This expansion will double the dimensions of the current building, from the current 1,100 square meters to over 2,200 after the renovation. The budget of 3.5 million includes the drafting of the project, the construction, the construction management and the equipment.
This was confirmed by the Director General of Economic Management, Contracting and Infrastructure, Pedro López, in a meeting held with the First Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Finance, Budgets and Districts of the City Council of València, María José Ferrer San Segundo. Also present at the meeting were the neighborhood mayor, Vicente Peris; the manager of the Arnau de Vilanova-Llíria Health Department, Ana Albert; the president of the neighborhood association of Benimàmet, José Huguet, and other representatives of the entity.
Ferrer San Segundo highlighted the collaboration between the Generalitat and the municipal government team led by María José Catalá, to improve the quality of life of the residents in the districts. Pedro López emphasized «the collaboration between the regional and municipal administrations to carry out a project of this magnitude that will benefit both users and professionals in Benimàmet.»
More consultations and new areas
Thanks to this expansion of surface area and remodeling of the existing space, the health center will increase from 16 to 34 care spaces. Among the main facilities that will be increased are the General Medicine consultations, which will go from 10 to 16 (between Medicine and Nursing), as well as the Pediatric Care consultations, which will increase from the current three to five consultations after the renovation. This expansion will also provide a four-seat Extraction room, Care and Therapy rooms, and a Social Work unit.
The renovation and expansion works will also include the construction of a new area for Continuous Care or Continuous Care Point (CCP) providing more consultations and waiting areas for patients and better conditions for workers. Likewise, the Women’s Care area will also be equipped with new facilities and a health education room. Furthermore, significant improvements in facilities and logistics will be introduced through the use of maximum energy efficiency systems.
According to Pedro López, «both the contracting of the works and the construction management are currently in the tender process, so the forecast is for the works to start towards the end of this year 2025, with a completion period of 18 months,» he explained.
