• Transfer of mobile platforms for fireworks castles.
- Councilor Julia Climent has announced the logistical resources activated by the city council during the festivities
- 460,000 kilos of sand have also been supplied for the scheduled pyrotechnic shows (mascletaes and castles)
- The management of mobility, security, and the development of the festive program require a broad deployment and coordination of technical and material resources
The Central Technical Services of the City Council have mobilized more than 5,300 pedestrian barriers during these Fallas festivities that have just concluded, to ensure the safety and mobility of pedestrians. This is one of the elements of the extensive logistical operation driven by the City Council through the management area led by Councilor Julia Climent, to coordinate the daily needs of the city with the requirements of the Fallas program.
The operation includes numerous essential areas for the development of the Fallas program and the determination of the necessary logistical resources. Among them, the installation of pedestrian barriers, which has revolved around 5,300 units: 1,300 municipal property, 400 property of the municipal sports foundation, and approximately 3,600 rented. To these, another 600 construction barriers have been added to delimit the security zone in the fireworks castle launches, and to protect heritage buildings. These are 3-meter construction barriers with their corresponding bases. Another striking figure in the service report is the use of over 25,000 ties for the assembly of barriers, bases, and signaling plates.
The service has also supplied sand for the pyrotechnic shows held in the city (mascletaes and castles). In total, 460,000 kilos of sand have been supplied, collected in 500 pallets of 46 bags each (each bag holds 20 kg of sand). Additionally, 1,300 no parking signal plates have been distributed.
Fleet of vehicles
The operation includes a fleet of vehicles to support service tasks: two forklift machines for loading/unloading sand in the Town Hall square and the castle area; an elevated platform for the support of the assembly and disassembly of the protective fencing also in the Town Hall square; and 10 vans and 5 closed box trucks for the movement of barriers, signage, and furniture, among other elements.
Since March 1, a crane truck has been used daily for full days, a task that will continue until April 1. In addition, the municipal mobile fleet has provided a loan of 5 vans and 9 cars as support vehicles for the firefighters’ Nit de la Cremà.
The mobilization has involved a team of between 14 and 25 people (depending on the different events) outdoors. Among the various tasks carried out during the festive period, the work around the activities programmed in the Town Hall square stands out: the assembly of the protective barrier (cage) for the mascletaes, the assembly of the protective structure of the main balcony and adjacent balconies, the installation of poles to facilitate cabling, the installation of poles indicating the pyrotechnic companies performing the launch, the preparation of signaling posters, and the assembly of the platform for press photographers on the town hall terrace.
Furthermore, work has been carried out at other key points of the Fallas program such as the Offering in the Virgin Square: installation of wooden and iron ramps and about 50 meters of mecanotube, support for the relocation of flower baskets and floats, and installation of pedestrian crossings along the route of the Fallas commissions, including 10 new flagpoles with concrete bases supplied by the Fallas Delegation.
Also part of this operation was the assembly of a large Senyera flag on the Serranos Towers for the Crida event. Additionally, the transfer of platforms, pedestals, furniture, and fire extinguishers for the Ninot Exhibition at the Science Museum was carried out.
The operation was completed with the production and installation of a total of 15 signs to indicate traffic closures caused by fireworks displays, the production and placement of fire zone signage at the castles and mascletaes, the supply of fire extinguishers for the pyrotechnic displays, and support for the technical needs of the CECOR (Operational Cooperation Center).
Other personnel resources have been allocated, in parallel, to indoor event development (maintenance guard personnel, elevator technician guards during mascletaes, cleaning guards…) and technical support to facilitate communication lines for the media inside the town hall.
