The València City Council, through València Innovation Capital and the EMT, is promoting this pioneering initiative.
The competition turns urban buses into video game competition stages in a unique action in Spain.
The tournament, free and open to all audiences, will culminate with a grand final at the main stage of OWN Valencia, at Feria Valencia, from June 27th to 29th.
The València City Council, through València Innovation Capital and the Municipal Transport Company (EMT), in collaboration with OWN, Spain’s largest digital entertainment event, is launching the second edition of «OWN THE BUS.»
This unprecedented initiative at the national level transforms urban buses into interactive spaces for video game competitions and reinforces the municipal strategy of València Innovation Capital, positioning the city as an international reference in the integration of technology, digital culture, and sustainable mobility.
The Councilor for Tourism, Innovation, and Investment Attraction of the València City Council, Paula Llobet, emphasized that «the support of the City Council for OWN THE BUS perfectly symbolizes the model of city we are building: an innovative, inclusive València that embraces new ways of experiencing public spaces.»
Llobet pointed out that «with this initiative, València consolidates itself as a pioneering city in the fusion of digital entertainment and sustainable urban mobility. We demonstrate our commitment to offering innovative and accessible experiences for all audiences, strengthening the city’s image as a technological and cultural reference.»
Additionally, the councilor highlighted that OWN THE BUS represents a strategic action within València Innovation Capital. «This event is the result of a public-private collaboration between the City Council and the creative and technological ecosystem. In this case, we work closely with València Game City.»
Llobet also emphasized the importance of the video game sector for the city’s economic development: «The video game sector is strategic for València. It is an industry with great economic, cultural, and educational potential.»
The councilor recalled that initiatives like OWN THE BUS and other strategic projects being developed at La Harinera «allow us to consolidate an innovative ecosystem, attract talent, and create new opportunities for young people and for the city as a whole.»
