Valencia Game City in collaboration with Valencia Innovation Capital presents the municipal esports leagues, a project aimed at positioning Valencia as a leading city in national esports. This circuit, designed to promote youth participation in technological activities, will kick off in February and extend until June 2025, including various competitive phases online and on-site.
The circuit is seeking the participation of young people between 14 and 35 years old who will have the opportunity to represent their district in recognized titles such as Mario Kart, Rocket League, Fortnite, Brawl Stars, Clash Royale, Neurotag and EAFC 25; thus, it is intended to favor diversity and adapt to different player profiles.
The Councilor for Innovation, Tourism, and Investment, Paula Llobet, emphasized that this project has a primary goal of «strengthening the social and digital fabric of the city and promoting the participation of our youth in innovative technological activities and values. Such as inclusion, teamwork, and healthy competitiveness.»
Furthermore, Llobet added: «Through this league, we will design Valencia as an attraction for brands, companies, and talents in the field of esports, strengthening its position as a reference in the sector at the national level.»
Beyond the competition: promoting healthy digital habits
The municipal esports leagues not only aim to promote competition but also serve as a platform to educate young people about responsible gaming and the importance of adopting good digital habits. Throughout the circuit, messages and workshops on balanced technology use, ergonomics in gaming, and cybersecurity will raise awareness about the importance of a healthy and safe digital environment.
In this regard, the Valencia City Council strengthens its commitment to a responsible esports model, where fun and competition go hand in hand with digital education and the well-being of participants.
The competition will take place in several phases:
- Registration and official registration phase: a form has been activated for official registration through the website of Valencia Game City in collaboration with the professional tool Torneo.
- Online competition phase: from March to May, participants will virtually compete in selected titles, accumulating points in an overall ranking.
- Face-to-face classification phase: to enhance accessibility and encourage community cohesion, the face-to-face classification will take place in different districts of Valencia
- Playoffs and grand final: the top scoring players in the online phase will face off in playoffs culminating in a grand final at the Valencia eSports Arena in June, an emblematic space in the city dedicated to innovation and technology.
The municipal esports circuit is part of the strategic initiatives promoted by Valencia Game City and Valencia Innovation Capital in their commitment to promoting projects that link innovation with youth, strengthening the social and technological impact in the city’s districts.
