UD Levante completed the signing of Ignesi Miquel, who will wear the Levantinista shirt until June 2025, with the option for another season. The experienced central defender, with a vast career in national and international football, has joined Granota’s staff and will be under the guidance of coach Julián Calero starting tomorrow.
Ignesi Miquel Pons (28/09/1992, Corbera de Llobatgat) began his career training at RCD Espanyol before going through the youth ranks of FC Barcelona and Eubsella de la UE. In 2010, he embarked on his first international adventure with Arsenal FC, where he had the opportunity to play in the UEFA Champions League in the 2011/2012 season. In 2013, he had a loan spell at Leicester City and a year later, he joined Norwich City.
The defender returned to Spain in 2015 to play for Sd Ponferradina before signing with CD Lugo. In the winter transfer window of 2017, he joined Málaga CF and made his debut in the top tier of Spanish football. In 2018, he moved to CF Getafe and in the following seasons, he had stints at clubs like Girona FC, CD Leganés, and SD Huesca. His next destination in 2022 was Granada CF, where he achieved promotion to the top tier in 2023.
Ignesi Miquel also represented the Spanish national team at U-17 and U-19 levels, winning the European Championship in 2011 and 2011 respectively.
After playing a total of 187 matches in La Liga Hypermotion and 61 in La Liga Smartbank, the defender faces a new challenge at Levante.
