After announcing the reconstruction of the fields in Aldaia and Sedaví, the solidarity initiative ‘UNITS COM SEMPRE’ continues to provide assistance for football, showing commitment to the most affected areas and teams involved in the ‘Escoles VCF’ program.
Thanks to the financial contribution from the Club, which donated the proceeds from the match against Real Betis, as well as generous donations from majority shareholder Peter Lim and Divina Seguros, the Club’s official insurer, along with support from other organizations like LALIGA through EA Sports and the Valencia CF fan base through FILA CERO SOLIDARIA, Valencia CF and Fundació VCF will help hundreds of children to engage in physical, social, and educational activities in one of the areas most affected by the DANA.
«After this catastrophe, it is crucial to reclaim social spaces and, in this case, everything related to sports. It is an honor for us to be able to progress in this regard. Public-private collaboration is essential for cities, and it is important for all of us to work together. We are delighted to make this a reality, especially in a stadium like Mundial 82 so closely linked to Valencia CF. These agreements with the affected municipalities have been a significant achievement, and we are eager to restore this stadium and start playing. We have many projects related to sports, and we are eternally grateful to Fundació VCF,» says the mayor of Catarroja, Lorena Silvent.
Javier Solís, General Director of Valencia CF, explains that the ties between Catarroja and Valencia CF have always been strong, not only because of the number of fans in the area but also due to the partner school within Academia VCF and being the birthplace of one of their legends and ambassador, Ricardo Arias. When the tragedy struck, we were determined to stand by the most affected areas, and through Fundació VCF, we are now able to sign this agreement to allow children to return to playing football in their town. It is undoubtedly a source of pride for the entire Club and Valencia fans to stand with Catarroja after the tragedy. Sedaví, Aldaia, and now Catarroja are joining the Valencia family, and we are proud to contribute to enable children to practice sports in their locality.
The Club and Fundació VCF have shown solidarity and assistance from the very beginning, as acknowledged by Óscar Banacloy, president of FCBD Catarroja: «It has been 5 months since the tragic DANA, and we have been nomads in football, playing in different facilities and never as the home team. The signing of this agreement with Valencia CF and Fundació VCF is vital for reclaiming the town’s stadium and establishing an identity in our community. Right after the DANA, the Valencia CF officials contacted me personally to inquire about the town’s situation and our players, showing genuine concern. The Club has provided us with all the facilities, allowing us to use their facilities at Ciutat Esportiva de Paterna, where many teams have been training for months. As a partner school, the Club immediately agreed to sign this agreement to restore our field. The kids need to return to training, which brings a sense of normalcy. We have been without normalcy for many months, and these significant gestures will restore physical and mental health to the children.»
