The City Council has reserved €18.6 million to ensure the cleaning of 102 school centers in the city over the next three years. This was agreed today by the Local Government Board when awarding the contract for the execution of this work divided into five lots, one of them aimed at evaluating the quality of the service.
The new contract has «significantly» increased the budget allocated to this service, from €4,900,000 to €6,200,000 per year. Among other improvements, it includes the reinforcement of specialist personnel in tasks specific to the job (cleaning windows, blinds, etc.) and the inclusion of labor for the replenishment of consumables (soap and toilet paper) in all centers covered by the contract. Additionally, the City Council has also strengthened quality evaluation controls, «based on the experience of the previous contract and in an effort to improve service provision.»
The first lot corresponds to a part of the northwest area of the city and includes 34 educational centers that will be cleaned by the company Serveo Facility Management Sa. with a budget of €5.27 million.
The second lot encompasses the remaining northwest area of the municipal term with 19 schools. Their cleaning will be the responsibility of the company Eulen SA with a budget of €4.06 million.
The third lot is assigned to the south-center area of the city, with 14 buildings, to be cleaned by the staff of Samyl Facility Services Sl, with around €3.10 million; while in the fourth lot, 35 school centers in the south-suburban area are grouped, whose cleaning will be carried out by Optima Facility Services Sl, for an amount exceeding €5.85 million.
The total area of the 102 school centers covered by the contract is 605,870 square meters. Interestingly, the school with the largest area is the CEIP Manuel González Martí, in Benifaraig, which has 16,748 m2.
The fifth lot of the contract, as detailed in the technical specifications, is intended for the evaluation of the quality of the service provision. This will be provided by SGSTecnos SL, with a budget of almost €240,000.
When analyzing the offers, municipal services have taken into account the best price offered and other criteria such as the increase in hours dedicated to special cleaning services; the commitment to using 100% electric vehicles for the distribution of consumables and materials, as well as for the transportation of machinery and operators; the increase in extra square meters for the polishing of synthetic floors, terrazzo, marble, parquet, and wood; as well as the number of extra hours for cleaning courtyards with a sweeping-scrubbing machine.
