The football field of the Jaume Ortí de Aldaia Municipal Sports Complex reopened its doors on the afternoon of Wednesday, April 30th, after being rehabilitated thanks to Valencia CF, through the Fundació VCF, LALIGA EA SPORTS, Divina Seguros, and the donations made to the ‘FILA CERO SOLIDARIA’ through the solidarity initiative of the Club ‘UNITS COM SEMPRE’.
«It is a very special day. Not long ago, just six months ago, this football field was a symbol of sadness and destruction after the passage of the DANA, which left it unrecognizable. But today, thanks to effort, solidarity, and joint work, we have transformed it into a place full of hope, excitement, and future,» says Inma Ibáñez, Director of the Fundació VCF.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by the General Director of Valencia CF – Javier Solís, the Director of the Fundació VCF – Inma Ibáñez, the Valencia CF player – César Tárrega, the Valencia CF Women’s player – Claudia Florentino, the Club’s ambassadors – Ricardo Arias, Miguel Ángel Bossio, and Miguel Tendillo, among others.
The special day began with a recreational workshop for the children present, accompanied by the Valencia CF mascot ‘AMUNT’. Subsequently, speeches were given by representatives of the different entities involved in the process. After that, the commemorative plaque of the football field was unveiled, followed by a training session with coaches from the VCF Academy and the affiliated UD Aldaia school.
After this inauguration event, the 750 children from the 43 teams of UD Aldaia can now enjoy this sports facility that was devastated by the terrible DANA that hit numerous localities in the Valencian Community. This event represents a further step towards returning to normal physical, social, and educational activities, allowing the physical and emotional development of the young footballers affected by the flood.
The official Valencia CF insurer, Divina Seguros, joined the Club’s solidarity initiative ‘UNITS COM SEMPRE’ from the beginning, matching the highest contribution made to the FILA CERO SOLIDARIA. Additionally, Divina Seguros provided free private health coverage, both for accidents and illnesses, to over a thousand children from the football schools affected by the DANA.
«The reconstruction of this field goes beyond the material because we cannot forget that football is much more than physical exercise. It is a way to create community and a powerful tool to promote values such as commitment, effort, teamwork, respect, and empathy from childhood,» emphasizes Armando Nieto, President of Divina Seguros.
Likewise, this Valencian company, together with Valencia CF and Fundació VCF, donated a musical instrument to the ‘Unió Musical d’Aldaia’ and the ‘Banda Sinfónica d’Aldaia’ – bands affected by the tragic flood.
The collaboration of LALIGA EA SPORTS for the restoration of the field is part of the FC FUTURES project, which aims to ensure easy and quality access to football for children and young people worldwide. As part of this project, balls and sports equipment were also donated to the affected schools in the area.
